The event will be graced by Dr Mridul Hazarika, Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University. In his message Dr Hazarika aptly summarized the thought behind forming the Europe Chapter of the Gauhati University Alumni Association:
A sizeable number of Gauhati University alumni have decided to settle abroad after they found success and personal growth in many foreign countries. It is not easy for most of these alumni individuals to come to Guwahati and maintain a close bond with their alma mater. To facilitate a closer interaction and to advise and counsel the University administration on ways to improve, contribute and build a still more vibrant 21st century institution, the University is contemplating to hold an alumni meet in London during February 2016. It will be only too prudent to bring together those who kept the flag of this institution high, under one roof to have a healthy, meaningful and successful intellectual exchange to help this institution with their tremendous insight, knowledge and skill.
We are fortunate that a fifteen member strong team of the University will also be attending the event to share thoughts with us.
Unfortunately, the meeting room seats up to only 50 people. Therefore, seat will be allocated 'first-come, first-served' basis. Please let us know if you will be attending, so that we can confirm your seat asap and send you all the relevant information. We will try to arrange for those whom we fail to accommodate to join the meeting via Skype, if that is any consolation. In any case, this is the beginning to connect with our alma mater and we are looking ahead for many more opportunities to connect and contribute in near future.
